Welcome to Halcyon Leather Co.
Welcome. I thought that if I were to begin my voyage into this unknown, I should at least give you guys a bit of background into who I am. If you're here I'm assuming you've already stumbled upon my website and read a little about me (if not I don't know why you're here but go back and take a look).
With that said, I don't personally find myself to be all that special nor that interesting, but maybe that's a good reason for you to stay with me here, who knows. Ultimately, I'm just a normal blue collar guy (who finds themselves to be pretty handy) with a small idea and an ambitious girlfriend with a background in PR.
How I got into the realm of leather working is ultimately pretty dull. See, I'm a 23 year old man with ADHD – to paint you a picture – whose brain works like a whiteboard filled with ideas, but every 10 minutes, someone erases half of it and starts a new doodle. Ultimately, it started with me in my garage deciding I needed to make new wooden handles for my axes; which naturally led me to decide that I would need leather sheaths for the axe heads as well.
Therefore, like anybody would, I deemed that I was skilled enough to make it myself.
Many nights later I found myself down a youtube rabbit hole at 3 A.M. watching video after video on everything leather working. Shockingly enough, none of the videos following the first had anything to do with my original goal of creating axe head sheaths.
This is when my focus shifted to wallets and more everyday use items. Here again is where my ADHD brain took over and my self confidence knew no end.
It started off as a slightly selfish endeavor; making myself wallets and tool holsters and such. Later, I began creating bags and gifts for the people in my life – what a convenience around Christmas time this hobby turned out to be.
Sooner or later I was rustling through the Buckleguy website any chance I could get, loading up on more materials and tools; expanding my horizons. Then, came the makeshift basement workbench and a gentle push from my enthusiastic girlfriend, and now we're here. Just an average electrician with a hyperactive mind and a creative touch.
Evidently I’ve come out of this with a small business and still no sheaths for my axe heads; but that's for a different day.
